Goldshell Models Explained: BOX, ECHO and MAX Series

Goldshell Models Explained: BOX, ECHO and MAX Series

Short answer: Goldshell sorts its miners into series by size: the BOX series (compact desktop units such as the KA-BOX, AL-BOX, AE-BOX, Mini-DOGE and XT BOX), the ECHO series (the E-models such as the E-AL1M and E-KA1M, with a built-in power supply) and the MAX series (full-size units such as the AL MAX, AE MAX and DG MAX). The letters in each name tell you the coin: AE for Aleo, AL for Alephium, KA for Kaspa, DG or DOGE for Dogecoin and Litecoin (Scrypt), and XT for Tari.

This guide explains how to read a Goldshell model name, what separates the three series, and the rated hashrate, power and efficiency of every Goldshell model we list. Bitminers does not guarantee mining profitability.

How to read a Goldshell model name

Most Goldshell names combine three parts. Take the AL-BOX III:

  • AL: the coin, here Alephium (Blake3 algorithm).
  • BOX: the series, here the compact BOX form factor.
  • III: the version. Roman numerals, Plus and Pro mark later or stronger versions of the same unit.

The coin codes used across the lineup:

Code Coin Algorithm Example models
AE Aleo zkSNARK proving AE-BOX, AE-BOX II, E-AE1M, AE MAX
AL Alephium Blake3 AL-BOX III, E-AL1M, AL MAX
KA Kaspa kHeavyHash KA-BOX Pro, E-KA1M
DG / DOGE Dogecoin and Litecoin Scrypt Mini-DOGE III, E-DG1M, DG MAX
XT Tari SHA3x XT BOX

Hashrate units differ by algorithm, so compare machines only within the same coin. Our guide to hashrate, terahash and J/TH explains why efficiency (watts per unit of hashrate) is the fairer measure.

The BOX series: compact desktop units

Goldshell’s own site files the AE BOX II, AL BOX II PLUS, AL BOX III, KA BOX PRO, MINI DOGE III and XT BOX under its BOX series and describes the series as its beginner’s pick, with a miniature design and a 35 dB rating. On the models we list, rated power runs from 360 W (AE-BOX) to 600 W (AL-BOX III and KA-BOX Pro), and listed noise is 35-45 dB.

Goldshell lists a 12 V DC input for BOX units such as the Mini-DOGE III and AL-BOX II Plus, and Goldshell publishes a help article on which supply to use with them, so check whether a listing includes one. The Mini-DOGE III mines Scrypt, which covers Litecoin and Dogecoin together; our guide to merged mining Litecoin and Dogecoin explains how one machine works on both. The XT BOX is Goldshell’s BOX-form miner for the Tari network, announced in September 2025.

The ECHO series: E-models with a built-in power supply

The E-AE1M, E-AL1M, E-DG1M and E-KA1M are listed under Goldshell’s ECHO series. Goldshell describes the series as having a built-in power supply and a 45 dB rating, and its E-AL1M page specifies 110-240 V AC input and a ≤45 dB noise level. These units draw a rated 1,800-2,000 W, between the BOX units and the MAX machines.

Three ECHO models have a second, low-power mode. Goldshell rates the E-AL1M at 4.4 TH/s and 1,800 W in its default mode or 3.0 TH/s and 1,100 W in low-power mode, the E-KA1M at 5.5 TH/s and 1,800 W or 3.8 TH/s and 1,100 W, and the E-DG1M at 3.4 GH/s and 1,800 W or 2.6 GH/s and 1,100 W.

The MAX series: full-size machines

Goldshell presents MAX as its line for professional miners. The MAX models we list (AE MAX, AE MAX II, AL MAX and DG MAX) draw a rated 3,200-3,400 W, and the two AE MAX units are listed at 85 dB. Goldshell’s MAX series page did not show these four models at the time of writing, so their ratings below come from independent spec databases rather than Goldshell itself.

Ratings for each Goldshell model we list

Ratings are Goldshell’s figures (±5%) where its site publishes them; models marked * are rated from independent spec databases. Efficiency is power divided by hashrate. Prices are Bitminers prices at the time of writing (October 4, 2026), for the listed hashrate shown.

DG MAX* MAX Scrypt 6.5 GH/s 3,400 W 0.52 J/MH 70 dB $1,873.50

Goldshell rates the Mini-DOGE III at 700 MH/s; some spec sites list it at 650 MH/s, and our listing is 700 MH/s. Our E-KA1M listing is 5 TH/s, below Goldshell’s 5.5 TH/s default rating and above its 3.8 TH/s low-power rating.

Choosing between BOX, ECHO and MAX

  • BOX suits a desk or home office: 360-600 W, listed at 35-45 dB, usually on a 12 V DC supply.
  • ECHO suits a spare room or garage with a standard outlet: about 1.8-2 kW with a built-in supply (110-240 V AC on the E-AL1M).
  • MAX suits a dedicated mining space: about 3.2-3.4 kW per unit and listed up to 85 dB.

Within one coin, compare efficiency, the power and heat your space can handle, and purchase price, and use current network and electricity data rather than fixed estimates. Bitminers does not guarantee mining profitability. Goldshell’s own BOX series page shows its current BOX lineup.

Frequently asked questions

What does the Goldshell AE-BOX mine?

The AE-BOX mines Aleo. Goldshell rates it at 37 MH/s and 360 W (about 9.7 J/MH), and it is listed at 35 dB.

What is the difference between the AL-BOX II Plus and the AL-BOX III?

Both mine Alephium on Blake3 at about 0.48 J/GH. Goldshell rates the AL-BOX II Plus at 1.0 TH/s and 480 W and the AL-BOX III at 1.25 TH/s and 600 W.

Can the Goldshell Mini-DOGE mine Litecoin as well as Dogecoin?

Yes. The Mini-DOGE III mines Scrypt, the algorithm both coins use, and Goldshell lists Litecoin and Dogecoin for it. On a pool that supports merged mining, the same hashrate works on both chains at once.

What does the E in E-KA1M or E-AL1M stand for?

Goldshell lists all four E-models under its ECHO series, the mid-size line with a built-in power supply. The letters after the E give the coin: KA for Kaspa, AL for Alephium, AE for Aleo, DG for Scrypt.

Which Goldshell miners need a separate power supply?

Goldshell lists a 12 V DC input for its BOX units, so check whether the supply is included in the listing. The ECHO E-models have a built-in power supply; the E-AL1M takes 110-240 V AC.
